Semiotics

Semiotics is the science of signs, this is very significant in Media as the media use semiotics to make people buy products/ services and/ or change people's opinions.

Denotation: Describing what the thing is.

Connotation: What it makes the person think/ feel.*

*The same thing can give different connotations depending on the situation/ circumstance (as shown below) 

Both Image have the same denotation of Red, but have very different connotations: the first image has the connotation of love and passion where as the second image has the connotation of pain and horror.
